Desserts = Stressed? Not here, apparently

Tonight was dessert night. Charlotte and Rachel stayed up until 4 a.m. yesterday preparing cheesecake for us because they love us :)
Unfortunately, Michelle had a meeting before and I had a meeting after, so they planned the dessert to stretch so we could both be there for part of it. Here's Michelle's take on the evening:

"When it rains, it pours. A couple of days ago, we took a picture sitting on the couch. Today, however, our day was much more exciting. It started when I rushed home from prayer with coffee all over my shirt because I spilled. Zazie also got sick, because apparently she eats blankets in her spare time (why evolution has not naturally selected out this dog is beyond me). Then, this afternoon I was going crazy with chemistry, and Rachel and Charlotte were good enough friends to make me take a few minutes to make s'mores over the stove with marshmallows and flips (such a good idea). The day got better when I went to scientific glassblowing and made a ton of beads (yeah, I'll be your local jeweler). And it continues...

....with wine and homemade cheesecake. Tons of roommie love. Tons of love, period. Here they are...I was still with Sharon....

What I Learned From My Mother

I learned from my mother how to love

the living, to have plenty of vases on hand

in case you have to rush to the hospital

with peonies cut from the lawn, black ants

still stuck to the buds. I learned to save jars

large enough to hold fruit salad for a whole

you know how to do this, you can never refuse.

To every house you enter, you must offer

healing: a chocolate cake you baked yourself,

the blessing of your voice, your chaste touch.
