So, here's the thing you should know about Rachel: she's wonderful. I'm mean, look at her (she's the one in the middle, not on the computer screen); she's rocking that freshly showered look, and her pajamas even match (more on that later).
But in all honesty, Michelle and I have decided that Rachel Penner is probably the most encouraging person in the world. She's one of those people who always has something good to say to you and about. If you're sad, discouraged, lonely,worried, nervous, or just rather blue, she is the one you want to talk to.
And today Rachel received good news times 2!
First, her sister (the one on the computer screen) called to say that her baby was going to be born within a few hours. Now, this was good news and sad news, because Rachel's sister lives in Mexico where she works with a missions organization, which is great except for when you're going to give birth to your second child and your sister lives in Santa Barbara. So, Rach was a little (ok, a lot) bummed that she couldn't go, but don't worry, she's going down to meet this lovely little child on Monday.
And good news number two? Well, our Rachel is about to become a working woman at a Christian summer camp. In addition to her many other good qualities, Rach is also a certified lifeguard - this means she saves people's lives. This is important. If I liked swimming, I would trust Rach. And now, a bunch of small children are going get to (well, hopefully she won't have to actually save them...befriend them, yes).
So much exciting good news in our lives this week!
